Boss Monster: Baut euch euren Dungeon!
Dungeons tauchen in Videospielen der letzten Jahrzehnte fast schon inflationär auf. Schließlich leben RPGs zu einem großen Teil davon. Der Standard-Abenteurer weiß: In Dungeons ist es dunkel und unheimlich. Überall lauern Monster. Wer in Dungeons geht, sollte gut ausgerüstet sein. Denn nicht selten findet man dort auch Bosse, die es in düsterer Umgebung zu bezwingen gilt.
Dieses Kerker-Szenario wird Brotherwise Games im Kartenspiel Boss Monster umsetzen und sammelt hierfür bei Kickstarter Kohle. Die Spielidee ist relativ einfach: Ihr baut euch über Karten einen Dungeon, der von links nach rechts geht und von Helden (ebenfalls Karten) durchquert werden muss. Jede Karte steht dabei für einen anderen Raum mit unterschiedlichen Eigenschaften. Am Ende der Kartenreihe befindet sich eine Bosskarte, die man mit seinem Helden besiegen muss. Dafür können auch Spell-Karten eingesetzt werden.
Kommt der Held des Gegners beim Durchqueren des Dungeons ums Leben, erhält man selbst eine Seele als Punkt. Bei zehn gesammelten Seelen hat man gewonnen. Wird allerdings der eigene Bossgegner fünf Mal getötet, ist das Spiel ebenfalls beendet.
Nachdem ich früher™ schon Magic: The Gathering ohne Ende gespielt habe, konnten mich die beiden Erfinder mit der Idee schnell locken. Video Games meets Kartenspiel. Dungeons mit Karten bauen, die in liebevoller Pixelgrafik designed sind und das ohne zusätzliche Kosten. Denn im Gegensatz zu Magic ist Boss Monster kein Sammelkartenspiel.
Wer das Projekt bei Kickstarter finanziert (und somit kauft) erhält ein fertiges Spiel für 2-4 Personen. Einzelkarten können nicht nachgekauft werden, weder einzeln noch in sogenannten Boosterpacks. Die Ausnahme stellen sechs zusätzliche, exklusive Kickstarter-Karten dar, die für einen höheren Spendenbetrag als Bonus mitgeliefert werden. Ab 20 Dollar (+ 10 Dollar internationaler Versand) seid ihr dabei.
Da das Projekt inzwischen ein neues Ziel erreicht hat (40.000 Dollar), kündigte Brotherwise Games eine Expansion fürs kommende Jahr an. Unter dem Namen “Tools of Hero-Kind” kommen zunächst 25 Karten hinzu, später ist ein größeres Set mit 150 neuen Karten geplant, das auch standalone gespielt werden kann. Natürlich kann man dann das Basisspiel von Boss Monster mit den neuen Karten kombinieren. Und schon gibt es schier endlose Möglichkeiten fürs eigene Deck.
Sollte im Laufe der Restzeit eine Summe von 60.000 Dollar zusammen kommen, werden weitere Karten ins Basis-Set eingepflegt.
