Achievements? Nö!
Konni so während der Civ5-Partie: “Oh, ich hab’ ein Achievement errungen.” Pechi darauf: “Du freust dich über Achievements?” Und dann die Diskussion…
Was findet eigentlich alle Welt an Achievements? Wo ist für mich der Mehrwert, wenn mir Fallout: New Vegas bescheinigt, 50 Feinde um die Ecke gebracht haben? Es ist ja nicht so, dass ich dadurch irgendwelche Vorteile im Spiel bekommen würde. Es ist lediglich die Information “Du hast etwas getan”, die mir virtuell auf die Schulter klopfen soll. Ich sage mir dann “Super, und weiter?”. In Multiplayer-Partien – also in einem Wettbewerb – mag das schön und gut sein. Wenn ich in Battlefield 50 Headshots vor dem Kumpel erreiche, dann hab’ ich mich im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs besser angestellt als er.
Aber sagen wir, ich schleiche in Bioshock durch Rapture. Die Atmosphäre ist zum Schneiden, ich höre irres Lachen, ohne zu wissen, woher. Ich sehe einen Schatten, höre Schritte im Wasser. Ich springe um die Ecke und grille den Splicer. Unten rechts ploppt das Steam-Fenster auf: ”Toaster in the Tub: Shock an enemy in the water.” Wie sehr kann man jemanden denn aus dem Spiel reißen? Vielleicht stehe ich mit der Meinung ja alleine da, aber hat denn jemand Achievements vermisst, als es noch keine Achievements gab?
Ein Spiel sollte seine Motivation doch aus sich selbst heraus generieren und nicht über platte, unnatürliche, unnütze Belohnungen. Achievements sollen die Spieler bei der Stange halten, aber ich würde eher sagen: Wenn ein Spiel Extra-Belohnungen braucht, um zu motivieren, dann stimmt mit dem Spiel etwas nicht. Wenn ich an einem Punkt bin, an dem ich nur noch weiter mache, um Achievements zu erlangen, obwohl mich die Spielmechanik oder die Story eigentlich gar nicht mehr motivieren, dann mache ich nicht mehr weiter. Denn wenn ich wirklich alles entdecken, alle Geheimnisse lüften, alle Truhen öffnen will, dann weil mich das Spiel dazu motiviert und nicht, um ein virtuelles Abzeichen zu ergattern. Oder anders: Natürlich lebt jedes Videospiel von Errungenschaften, aber es muss mir nicht jedes Mal ins Gesicht reiben, was ich erreicht habe. Das weiß ich selber.

Nehmt's mir nicht übel, aber die Artikel hier haben immer mehr diesen "früher war alles besser" / "Wer brauch diesen modernen Scheiss" Unterton. Das finde ich schade. Obwohl ich Achievements nicht zwingend brauche, kann ich nicht verstehen, wie man sich an sowas stören kann. Ich lese im Gefenteil immer häufiger von Leuten die in Spielen auf bestimmte (schwierige) aus sind. Quasi ne Art von Highscore Jagd.

Ich persönlich störe mich ja auch nicht an Achievements. Zwar finde ich einige wirklich unnötig. Aber an und für sich waren sie für mich auch immer wieder ein Ansporn. Aber Pechi halt…
